Attendings say the darnedest things:

During ICU rounds:

Student: "....she had no Flatus overnight.."

Attending: "you know, there's a Mexican dish called flatus."

Residents: "hmmm really?"

Me, dying laughing: "um, do you mean FLAUTAS???"

During surgery:
Resident S: Dr. L, why don't you let us do anything? Like cut, or do procedures.
Surgeon: I let you guys cut suture
Resident S: No, I mean cut, do surgery. I hunt and fish and filet fish all the time.
Surgeon: Unless my patient's name is Rainbow Trout you are not cutting into them.

a newly discovered modern-day inspiration

Today I am healed.
Perhaps not the way you had hoped for, prayed for, waited for
But I'm in a glorious new body, free of pain, full of new strength
Free to run and dance in a place where God himself wipes my tears away
Immersed in a love, joy and peace that we have a mere taste of during our time on earth
In the presence of my God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who loves me more than His own life
Know that today I am healed.
